LOUIS VUITTON IN-STORE BOUTIQUE OPENING

LOUIS VUITTON IN-STORE BOUTIQUE OPENING

Louis Vuitton opened thier first in-store boutique today in a Bijenkorf department store and this beautiful bootique was designed by internationally renowned architect Peter Marino, who also completed the new flagship Louis Vuitton Maison on London’s Bond Street. This is the first Louis Vuitton leased department within a Bijenkorf store and marks the first new Louis Vuitton department store partnership in the Netherlands.

The Louis Vuitton Bijenkorf department store is the second Louis Vuitton location in the Netherlands. The store is 150 square feet and located on Bijenkorf main floor across from the designer watch department and offers a mix of Louis Vuitton leather goods, including designer handbags and luggage, alongside accessories such as Louis Vuitton sunglasses, ties and an extensive selection of women’s designer shoes.

The Bijenkorf department store also sells luxury brands like Viktor and Rolf, Burberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs and See by Chloé. It leaves one thinking what to expect next from the department store.

NATURE’S DIRTY RUSTY JEANS

NATURE’S DIRTY RUSTY JEANS

Hi my name is Guleed also known as WearDenimOrDie, and I’m back with another one of my experimental denim projects. If you read my previous post at yesterdaysucks.com, you can tell I’m a dry denim alterer who lives by the philosophy of dry denim jeans as a work of art by your own body.

This beautiful girl I call “Nature’s Rusty Love” is a two year old Nudie regular ralf dry denim. I used to wear these jeans day in day out for two years, until I placed it on my rooftop. I kept it there for one year straight with nothing but paint cans in the waist and legs, just to make sure it wouldn’t fly away with the wind. After a year I took it off the roof and gave it a
warm wash. To understand the transformation the pair of jeans went through, you need to know that dry denim is a fabric which is not washed after being dyed during its production, so with every wash the colour fades away easily.

I think that the most impressing transformation was due to the fact that the jeans lay on a flat rooftop. The rooftop worked as a bucket which held a small amount of rain water that could only escape if it evaporated by the sun. So the jeans literally got a natural wash for a year and because the paint cans are made of metal the rain made them rust which left a rusty colour on the jeans. What I didn’t expect to happen, was that the paint can leaked and left a big white stain. This is one of the reasons why I love to experiment with dry denim and what makes this pair of jeans so unique.

VELOUR SPRING/SUMMER 2011 PREVIEW

VELOUR SPRING/SUMMER 2011 PREVIEW

The Velour story started back in 1997 when Per Andersson rummaged through the store of his grandmother’s old ready-to-wear shop, which closed in the mid eighties after 50 years of business. He decided to make use of this asset and opened Nostalgi together with a couple of friends. The shop sold the dead stock clothes together with re-makes, art and design and became a forum for the Göteborg independent scene. It also attracted international attention. Nostalgi’s creative customers inspired the Velour team to take the step towards designing their own clothes in 2002, and the first Velour collection was launched in 2005.

I didn’t have any idea about Velour until one day I spotted a friend with the most amazing pair of Velour chino pants, from that day on Velour went right up at the top of my list!!! As you could also see in my previous post I was at the Velour store a couple of weeks ago to collaborate with the owners of the newly opened store in Amsterdam. It’s no surprise, that during the fitting process I got a glimpse of the new spring/summer collection. Now therefore, I had to show you this fine collection of wearable basics.

Also watch this video that provides a ‘behind-the-scenes’ view on the brand’s collection for this Autumn-Winter.

KANYE WEST FT JAY-Z AND SWIZZ BEATZ – POWER (REMIX)

KANYE WEST FT JAY-Z AND SWIZZ BEATZ – POWER (REMIX)

Kanye West featuring Jay- Z and Swizz Beatz -Power (Remix) by Hypetrak

Wow just wow. Kanye’s new verse is ridiculous. They tinkered a little bit with the original beat which I loved but I am digging this. Swizz Beatz switched the beat and the end and took it to another level!!!!! JAY-Z went in and I think this is the best remix of the year so far, what do you think?

VELOUR- EFFORTLESS STYLE

VELOUR- EFFORTLESS STYLE

I’ve always been intrigued by the classic prep style when it is done effortlessly. Couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to collaborate with the owners of the newly opened store Velour in Amsterdam. It was a fine experience to say the least. The clothes you see us sporting in the photos are all courtesy of Velour Amsterdam, most of which can be found at their store.

FROM ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUST

FROM ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUST

Hi my name is Guleed also known as WearDenimOrDie and I’m a dry denim alterer. I’ve been asked by Hussein to do a post on my project.

I see dry denim jeans as a work of art by your own body, the jeans are your canvas and the actions that you make when you wear them is your artwork. You wear those jeans day in and day out. I run, dance, skateboard, play soccer, even do a little bit of love making with my jeans. If your are really dedicated to your jeans, the jeans got your blood, sweat and love on them. After all, those jeans feel like your second skin, and damn does your second skin look fresh!

Take for example my five year old Nudie regular ralf dry denim I like to call “ashes to ashes, dust to dust”. I wore this particular jeans day in and day our for four years and washed them twice, then I buried her for one year in my back yard. I took her out and she went trough an unbelievable change. The moistness of the ground, and the insects living there used her as food and shelter. So now she is filled with micro-small sized bites and holes, and she is so moist that I sadly can not where here any more cause she will rip apart. That’s why she is hanging proudly on my bed room wall, as my pride possession.

MY AMSTERDAM FASHION WEEK RECAP

MY AMSTERDAM FASHION WEEK RECAP

Amsterdam Fashion Week is always an exciting time and depending on where I am in my work and life I see the shows as they occur or over a longer period of time. But despite all time barriers I try to see all the fashion week shows and take my time in doing so to create my own archive of inspiration. It is hard sometimes because there are designers I love very much and always look to first, but I just can’t go to the show because I need to work.

The level of creativity and quality displayed by some of the menswear designers at last weeks Amsterdam Fashion Week was at times exceptional, from Heren van Koster to NON by Kim. The abundance of new and emerging brands is raising the bar in terms of quality as brands aim to compete with one another in what is becomming a ’squeezed’ market place.

WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER IN BERLIN

WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER IN BERLIN

Bread & Butter Berlin is one of Europe’s largest fashion trade shows, and the venue is incredible. The people at BBB got access to the recently closed Templehof Airport just outside of central Berlin. The architecture of this massive structure is just amazing. You often find yourself asking, “Am I really standing here? Although I arrived in Berlin after a long ride and we did not stay very long at most of the places, I wouldn’t want to miss it. Big Shout out to my Dailypaper fam, Guillaume, Sharon Jane, Carista Naomi, Jessica, Yoji and the Green Paper Boys. And a a very special shout out to Toyah Siegel, your tours were much appreciated.

If you’re a person who loves to know what the latest trends are then you should head over to Berlin, Germany and check out Bread and Butter at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport next year.
